Based on en.wikipedia.org plagiarism is the "wrongful appropriation" and "purloining and publication" of another author's "language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions," and represent them as one's own original work.
* then I remember in sudden, my fave lecture in KPM IPB ever told me not to trust wikipedia as well, since it shows your level of knowledge. .... unfortunately I'm still not that smart misteerr.. haha *tragical laugh*
This plagiarism issue may happened in any aspect of life. it could be in social media, journal publication, mini-thesis, thesis, quote, music, film, anything. That's why college nowdays also published their student mini-thesis, thesis and dissertation into web, so nobody may easily claim something not excactly theirs.
Still from en.wikipedia.org, plagiarism is considered academic dishonesty and a breach of journalistic ethics. Plagiarism is not a crime but it is a serious ethical offense, and cases of plagiarism can constitute copyright infringement.

huumm.. so nobody want to be judged as a plagiator right? that's why we have to write down the complete citation for each information we use. We also have to credit the original authors for their information and ideas.
noted that! ;)
